Big Transmitters in Hull
Saturday morning my roommate Paul and I set out for Hull, MA. Once there we met several other members of the NSRA, and proceeded on a tour of the WBZ 1030 AM transmission station. This was definitely not an opportunity one gets very often, and certainly worth going. The two antennas are set up as a cardioid array, with the null over the Atlantic. Unfortunately I cannot remember our host's name, but he was a pleasure to meet. Though he admitted that he has only been working at the WBZ transmission station for a bit over a year (I think) he had plenty of stories to tell.
Heres another site with more pictures (not from this same tour): Fybush station of the week: WBZ

First Contact
Today I made (besides checking in to a few nets) my first radio contacts. Two in the same car ride in fact! The first was Allan whom I only talked to briefly - and who's call I forgot - and Dan (W1DFL). It turns out Dan works in the IT department at Salem State, where I am a student. Overall, an enjoyable first conversation, Thanks Dan!

My name is Andy and I am an Ametur Radio operator. I received my ticket as a Technician in July, and was given the callsign KB1PGF. I have since been listening to local repeaters on my vx-170, and more reciently an ft-1802m.
